A NEW programme of events at Craven Arts House in Skipton  aims to both unlock people's creative potential and foster holistic wellness.

Beginning in May, the classes and workshops including in yoga and meditation at the Otley Street centre will strive to demonstrate the centre's commitment to 'Connecting, Creative, Craven'.

A four week Arts 4 Wellbeing course with arts-based coach Maureen Wright will get underway on Saturday, May 4 and will cost £40.

Maureen will show people how to encourage the cultivation of a future-focused mindset, where you can apply key strengths, identify future goals, and take positive action towards living your best possible life.

Maureen is an experienced coaching psychologist, tutor, and wellbeing researcher with a particular interest in arts-based coaching for enhanced wellbeing.

And, beginning on Friday, May 3 will be the relaxed and informal 'Feel Good Friday' with Jane Carlisle Bellerby.

Jane will provide students with an opportunity to try out a wide range of art techniques and media. Sessions include printmaking, clay modelling, landscape painting, mixed media collage and 3D watercolours.

On June 1, the centre will host a “Creative Flow Art and Sound Bath Workshop” designed to foster a sense of flow and creative inspiration and promote a sense of inner balance and wellbeing.

Starting with a seated guided meditation and sound bath people will be invited on a melodic sound journey of relaxation 'designed to stimulate the imagination'.

A spokesperson for the arts house said : "People will be invited to use a variety of mixed media art techniques to explore personal responses inspired by trees, prompted by images, words, symbolism and textures."

Nature-inspired mini course “Pose to Page: Yoga and Nature,” will be led by Dru Yoga teacher, breath coach, and author Kayla Herbert, and is coming to the arts centre in September.

The spokesperson said: "Merging the serenity of Dru Yoga with the creativity of nature-inspired writing, Kayla encourages people to think about how we can incorporate the blossoming world around us into our poetry and prose.
