Visitors to Malham Cove will once again be able to get a bird’s eye view of the fastest animal on the planet.

For the 11th year running, the RSPB and the Yorkshire Dales National Park will provide high-powered telescopes at the bottom of the Cove for visitors to see a pair of peregrine falcons.

The free viewpoint will be open from Saturday to July 31 and will be run by RSPB and YDNPA staff and volunteers from Saturdays to Wednesday between 10.30am and 4.30pm – weather permitting.

The park’s wildlife conservation officer Ian Court said: “We are all looking forward to what will hopefully be another successful season.”

Peregrines started nesting at the Cove 20 years ago and since then have raised more than 40 young.

As in previous years, visitors are being asked to stay away from the nest site and the British Mountaineering Council has agreed to impose temporary, voluntary rock climbing restrictions in the area.

An area at the top of the cliff has also been sealed off and visitors are asked to follow on-site signage.
