A Pendle borough councillor from Barnoldswick has resigned. Coun Janine Throup, a Liberal Democrat who represents the town’s Coates ward, resigned after missing several meetings over the last few months. Pendle Council will hold a by-election to replace Coun Throup. The seat is likely to be keenly fought by both Liberal Democrats and Conservatives, who now have four seats each on Pendle’s West Craven Area Committee.
