Grassington will be filled with umbrellas this month – but hopefully not to keep the rain off.
Grassington Festival has gone brolly mad with the installation of more than 300 umbrellas hanging high and low across the village.
It includes a mixture of commissioned artworks by sculptors, visual artists and poets and creations by local businesses and groups.
Becky Cherriman, the Leeds-based creative writer, was commissioned to create ten poems about umbrellas.
Becky says: “I discovered there is so much history and mythology around umbrellas that I fell in love with the subjects.”
The festival runs from Friday, June 14, to Saturday, June 2. The visual arts displays will be on throughout.
