A COMMUNITY defibrillator has been installed outside Lothersdale Village Hall.
As well as a recently formed community first responder team, Lothersdale residents can now benefit from the installation of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) donated by Airedale and Wharfedale Clinical Commissioning Group.
The Lothersdale Parochial Church Council and Village Hall Trust agreed to site it on the village hall with on-going costs to be funded by the parish council.
Designed with screen messages and voice commands, an AED can be used by anybody and can make the difference between life and death for someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest.
Cath Wilson, co-ordinator of Lothersdale Community First Responder Team, explained after dialling 999 the emergency operator would give the caller a code to open the cabinet to access the AED.
All Lothersdale residents are invited to aN awareness session, delivered by Yorkshire Ambulance Service, from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday, March 21, in Lothersdale Village Hall.
