POLICE are investigating the defacing of Vote Leave posters across Craven.

Several were targeted on the roads in North Craven and another was defaced in Bradley.

Malcolm Guy, who put up the Bradley poster with the permission of the landowner, said: "As this is a democracy, and vandalising items on private property is a crime, I felt duty bound to inform North Yorkshire Police, acknowledging that it would not be high on their list of priorities."

Insp Geoff Crocker, from Skipton Police, confirmed that three crime reports had been received, relating to signs in Clapham, Low Bentham and Bradley.

In some instances, the campaign signs had been sprayed with obscenities and in others, vital words had been painted out.

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
