THE A629 Skipton bypass was closed for about two hours earlier today (Friday) after a vehicle caught fire.
The eight ton Manitou plant machinery was reported on fire at 11.19am and the road was closed until after 1pm for the vehicle to be removed and the road cleared.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "We received a highways disruption report at 11.19am today regarding an eight tonne Manitou plant machinery being on fire on the A629 at Skipton.
"The fire service and highways also attended to help manage situation. Local diversions were put in place while the vehicle was recovered and the road repaired and cleared of debris."
