South Craven School at Cross Hills is celebrating the completion of a major new addition to its campus.
The new building, called The Fells, is the product of Government funding, aided by the school’s decision to opt for academy status last year.
The building replaces wooden properties which had been classed as “temporary”.
A spokesman for the school said: “It’s a modern design that enhances the campus and provides much needed teaching space. It is light and airy and has three classrooms, a much-needed extended resource area with seminar rooms and a new drama-cum-assembly hall.
“With its retractable seating the hall makes a stage unnecessary for productions. It will double as the exam room in the summer, freeing up the sports hall for the PE staff.
“The resource area has banks of computers, comfortable chairs for relaxing in and a library. Downstairs, the three classrooms have been given over to PE and two maths rooms.”
The building has already been handed over to the school and is now in use. It is due to be officially opened this month by Skipton MP Julian Smith.
