THE long run of injuries and absences continued to haunt Settle 1st XI as they lost both NPL double-header matches at the weekend.
IN a hectic weekend schedule, Settle firsts showed great resilience in winning all three NW League matches. The trek to Feniscowles on Friday was rewarded with a thumping T20 victory as skipper Will Davidson smashed 63 from 25 balls. Pro Ashen Silva (35) and John Davidson (21) went at a run a ball, while Ben Hulse (20) and Archie Phillipson (15) kept up the pace to leave the visitors on 213-5.
SETTLE entertained old foes Salesbury in the NWCL Senior Premiership to produce a pulsating match with dramatic final overs and a tie as a result.
On Saturday Settle made their first ever trip to distant Atherton where Archie Phillipson dug in for a characteristic 37 from 94 balls, while pro Ashen Silva celebrated his 100th appearance for the Craven side with a masterful 87 from exactly 100 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes on the way. There was brisk strokeplay from Eddy Read (15) and overseas amateur Tremaine Dowrich (10) with Settle closing on 190 all out. WITH the first two weekends washed out in the new North West League, Settle senior teams were desperate for action at the weekend.
IN their last match of a triumphant season, league champions Settle lost at Read in a match which avenged the Lancastrian’s defeat in the Ramsbottom Cup final last month.
IT was a tumultuous weekend for Settle cricket with all four of its matches being decided by a margin of four runs or under.
IT was another clean sweep for Settle’s Ribblesdale League teams at the weekend, including a Ramsbottom Cup quarter-final victory.
