IT was good to see so many people in Skipton on Sunday for the welcome return of the car show.
A relatively new event that was held for the first time in 2015, the aim of the then organiser was to bring back the type of car show he could remember from his youth.
The first one was blessed with good weather and every one since has similarly enjoyed wall to wall sunshine and ever increasing crowds.
Now, after a break of three years and a new organiser behind the wheel, it has lost none of its popularity. It's a simple enough recipe, lots of shiny cars including everything from the kind of Ford Escort or Mini you drove around in when you first passed your test, to American trucks, vintage classics and supercars. Throw in police cars and a fire engine and make it free, and you've a hit on your hands. Also taking place in Skipton on Sunday was the first market laid on by the town council specifically for young traders - another really good event that was out of the norm, and also well attended.
Skipton was buzzing, hopefully this weekend for Saturday's Skipton Gala will be equally blessed with perfect weather. There will be rolling road closures for the procession, which will set off from Westmoreland Street at around 1pm and will take about an hour to get to Aireville Park via the town centre and High Street - so be patient everyone, it won't take forever, and come along to Skipton for an entertaining, family day out.
