SKIPTON:

Skipton Players will be treading the boards of the Little Theatre in the crime thriller Grand National Night from Tuesday June 22 to Saturday June 26.

The plot focuses on racehorse owner Gerald Coates, who accidentally kills his wife, Babs, during an argument. Skipton Players’ version will be directed by Joan Nicholson and performances start at 7.30pm. For information log onto skiptonlittletheatre.org.uk

* Heritage Opera presents Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Holy Trinity Church at 7.30pm on Saturday.

* Skipton Castle is the venue for an outdoor production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Dean Taylor Productions will give performances at 2pm and 7pm on Friday June 25 and Saturday June 26 and at 2pm on Sunday June 27. Tickets cost £22, £16 for concessions and £12 for children from 01772 466256.

* Craven Museum is hosting an exhibition of soccer photographs and memorabilia.

The “Some Sheep are on the Pitch” exhibition includes a pair of former England captain John Terry’s boots and a genuine 1966 World Cup shirt – when England last won the World Cup. The free exhibition covers the history of football from 1909 and the history of Craven District Football.

SETTLE:

The Gallery on the Green, situated in a disused telephone kiosk in Upper Settle, is hosting its first international art display. Midnight Visions is by Canadian photographer Jim des Rivières and is based on his passion for moths.

* The Linton Court Gallery, off Duke Street, is now home to Gavagan Arts, run by Mary Gavagan. Its first exhibition features watercolour paintings by the late Norman Adams (1927-2005), an accomplished artist and Fellow of the Royal Academy.

CLAPHAM:

An evening with singer Val Baulard, due to take place at the village hall next Saturday, June 19, has been cancelled.

GIGGLESWICK:

The gardens of Style House at Giggleswick School will be the setting for a concert by Schola Cantorum on Sunday.

The choir will perform madrigals and songs for a summer evening from 7pm. There will be a retiring collection in aid of a centre for street children in the Philippines.

BENTHAM:

Kirkby Lonsdale Brass Band will perform at St John’s Church on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The concert will raise funds for the church’s extension appeal and tickets cost £7 from High Bentham Post Office, church members or on the door.

GRASSINGTON:

Grassington Players will embark on their third “on the road” tour next week. They will be performing “Talking Head” monologues, written by member Keith Bromley, at venues across the area.

The tour starts with three performances as part of Grassington Festival’s fringe events. These are at Grassington Congregational Church on Monday, at St Margaret Clitherow Church, Threshfield, next Friday, June 18, and back at the Congregational Church on Monday June 21. This year’s tour will raise money for Parkinson’s UK.

KIRKBY MALHAM:

Giggleswick and Settle Brass Band will give a “Last Night at the Proms” concert at Kirkby Malham Church on Saturday.

The evening starts with strawberries and cream on the vicarage lawn at 7pm, followed by the concert in the church at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10.

THORNTON-IN-CRAVEN:

Bradford Cathedral Choir will sing sacred and secular songs from the past 500 years at St Mary’s Church tomorrow (Friday).

The concert starts at 7.30pm and is part of a series of events celebrating the 500th anniversary of the church. Tickets cost £6 at the door.
