A CAROL service was held at St Peter's Methodist Church in Cross Hills on Sunday.
The service was led by Deacon Maggie Patchett, helped by youngsters from the Friends Are Us youth club and Sunday School.
A drama, Away with the Manger, portrayed how the real meaning of Christmas was overshadowed by the modern trappings of the season.
Mince pies and warm drinks were served, and in the Sunday School a full traditional Christmas dinner was enjoyed.
"The tables were beautifully decorated and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves," said Diane Bloomfield, for the church.
Seasonal entertainment was led by Jonathan and Charlotte Crossley.
