TWO by-elections to replace three members of Barnoldswick Town Council will take place within the next month.
Coates ward councillors Cassandra Merrett and Julie Allott and Craven ward councillor Kate Metcalfe, all representing the Liberal Democrats, resigned four months after they were elected in May.
The first by-election will take place next October 29, in the Coates ward, where five candidates, representing the Green, Liberal Democrat and Conservative parties, will vie for two seats.
The Conservative candidate is former Pendle councillor Valerie Langtree, of Salterforth.
The Liberal Democrats are fielding Bryan Fieldhouse, director of the Reverb Factory, and Janet William. Both are from Barnoldswick.
The Green Party also has two Barlickers standing for the two seats – Jane Wood, the publicity officer for SELRAP, and Shaun Nixon, who received 900 votes in May's election and just missed out on election to the town council.
The second by-election for a seat in the Craven ward on Barnoldswick Town Council will be held on November 19.
The Greens have announced they will have one candidate standing, Kelly Hollick.
However, any others interested in running for the seat must submit their nomination papers to Pendle Council's election office in the Town Hall, Market Street, Nelson, BB9 7LG by no later than 4pm tomorrow.
