SKIPTON Town Council is getting ready for the arrival of a delegation from its German twin town.

Richard Findl, who is the mayor of Simbach, is coming to Skipton with his wife, Cornelia, deputy mayor Heinz Tietze, vice deputy mayor Hans-Dieter Scheiblhuber, interpreter Paul Wehrl and town council clerk Tony Schuhbauer.

The party touches down at Manchester Airport on Thursday June 7 and that evening they will be treated to a meal at Canalside restaurant in Skip-ton.

The following day they will attend a reception and lunch at Ermysted's Grammar School and visit Catterick Races.

They will also be guests at the Simbach Association dinner at Skipton Golf Club in the evening.

The third day of their trip coincides with Skipton Gala.

The Simbach party will judge the gala procession, open the event and have an afternoon tea with the organising committee.

In the evening they will attend a meal and fireworks display at Herriot's Hotel.

On the Sunday, Skipton's deputy chief officer, Geoff Hill, will lead a walk in the Dales, ending with lunch at the Craven Heifer.

The Simbach group will then have some free time in the town before a farewell barbecue at Herriots in the evening.

They fly home to Germany the following day.
