THE organisers of Craven's first cycling festival say they are delighted with the support they received at the weekend, although the weather was disappointing.

Bruce Dinsmore, sports development officer with Craven District Council, said: "For this year's prologue we managed to pull together a broad range of activities to test the market and establish an identity and location for the festival.

"I believe we have laid down some good foundations but need to improve areas in order to attract more visitors and local people to take part.

"The Go Ride' scheme went well but poor weather on the Friday didn't help other activities.

"There was a low turnout on Saturday but there was positive feedback from those who took part in the free mountain bike rides and bike/rail trips and attended the film and food at Settle Victoria Hall.

"Sunday's weather was good and the Etape was superbly run as always, and the Market Place events with stunt rider Richard Johnson went smoothly."

Mr Dinsmore and Colin Clifford, of Off The Rails, have thanked everyone who helped out with the organisation of the festival.

They are going to have a meeting in the near future to discuss the feedback from the event to help them organise bigger festivals in the future.
