A ZEBRA crossing looks likely to be built on Shortbank Road in Skipton.
Craven Area Committee will consider the proposal on Thursday.
It is suggested that the crossing should be located near the junction with Sunmoor Drive and the road should also be narrowed to single file near the crossing.
In a report to the meeting, Gordon Gresty, corporate director for business and envi-ronmental services at North Yorkshire County Council, said: "The proposed zebra crossing location is the best to attract the maximum number of users, including those from Hurrs Road, Moorview Way and Sunmoor Drive and from the Paper Shop.
"However the proposed location will cause some intrusion to the eight properties in St John's Court. On balance it is considered that the crossing should be built where it will be most used by pedestrians."
