A PLANNING inspector has dismissed an appeal for a detached two-storey dwelling on a semi-derelict plot of land at the back of Midland Street, Skipton.

Inspector Derek Thew said the new home would dominate the local street scene and overlook other properties.

He added: "Furthermore, the appeal site is both small in area and somewhat irregular in shape.

"As a result the proposed dwelling would occupy all the plot with no room for any private garden or patio space.

"This would result in the dwelling looking cramped on the site."

The appeal was lodged by Mr M Hussain.
