THE occupants of a car were lucky to escape serious injury after a lorry reversed on top of them near the Bull at Broughton.
A police spokeswoman said the accident occurred after the 39-year-old lorry driver overshot the turn off to Gargrave and decided to reverse back. The lorry then struck a Toyota Yaris, extensively damaging its front end. The driver and passenger received seat belt injuries in the incident, which occurred at 6.20am on Monday.
