YOUNG Ingleton bikers will soon have a brand new pump track to practise their jumps and turns.
In a partnership between the parish council and Craven District Council, work on a new track in the former Middle School playing fields is under way.
It marks the successful conclusion of several years of Ingleton Parish Council trying to find a suitable site for the facility and lengthy negotiations with North Yorkshire County Council to buy the land.
Contractors Clark and Kent, responsible for more than 400 pump tracks across the country and builders of the London 2012 Olympic BMX track, expect to have completed work by the end of May.
Councillor Linda Brockbank, lead member for working with communities, said: “It’s great to see this joint parish and district council project being built to provide a much-needed youth recreational facility for the community.
"This will be the first project to be delivered from the Craven District Council's new Open Space strategy, and I hope more will follow."
