SKIPTON-district groups are being invited to apply for cash aid from an awards scheme which last year distributed £19,000 across the region.
Skipton Building Society has launched its annual Grassroots Giving venture, in which the public votes for its favourite causes from a shortlist of applicants.
Among the 38 Yorkshire groups to receive grants last year were Airedale Beekeepers Association and Cononley's bowling and cricket clubs.
Roy Prenton, for the Grassroots Giving scheme, said: "Often, small self-funded groups are out on a limb and struggle to gain grants because they are not registered charities.
"Grassroots Giving enables us to really get to the heart of our local communities and we love being able to help causes that we see in action in our neighbourhoods.
"We know the money they receive will make an impact and this is really important to us."
Applicants which make the shortlist stage in August are then profiled by the building society before the public vote opens.
