A FORMER Ermysted's Grammar School pupil who now works in the city has won a place in the Ironman World Championships.
Duncan Bullock, 30, will compete in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, in the autumn after being placed second in his age group in the African Ironman championships, held in Port Elizabeth in April.
In the highly competitive 30-34 age group, he completed all three triathlon disciplines in a time of nine hours, 26 minutes and 34 seconds.
Billed as triathlon's most iconic event, he completed the 3.8km open water swim in one hour, 11 minutes and 25 seconds, and the 180km bike ride in five hours, one minute and four seconds. He completed the final, 42km run in a time of three hours, six minutes and 51 seconds.
Duncan, originally from Menston and a frequent visitor home, left Ermysted's in 2004 for Keble College, Oxford. Having enjoyed rugby at Ermysted's, he switched to rowing, where he was captain of the Keble College eights squad.
After leaving Oxford with a first class degree in geography, he moved into the world of finance in the city of London.
