BARNOLDSWICK
Rotary Club: Rotary’s district governor Arthur Jones referred to the organisation’s problem of attracting new members when he spoke at Barnoldswick and Earby Rotary Club’s 53rd anniversary charter dinner. He said Rotary was losing 1,000 members a year and the answer could be to create new and satellite clubs. The local club’s president, Michael Peckover, also expressed the need to bring in new members. He said it had been an up and down year in which he had tried to arrange a varied programme with charity contributions being made to flood relief, Bosom Friends and Pendleside Hospice. Speaker Bill Honeywell, of Clitheroe Rotary Club, said new, younger men and women were needed to carry on the work which was being done now by Rotary. He spoke of amusing incidents in his work as an estate agent and of his charity cycling and walking challenges, which had so far raised over £70,000 and he hopes to extend to this to £100,000. Toastmaster for the evening was honorary member Colin Pollard, grace was said by Alan Hardman, the objects of Rotary were read by Malcolm Planner and thanks were expressed by Martin Chalmers.
St Andrew’s: The preacher at the 10am service on Sunday will be Hazel Edmondson and at 6pm the Rev Wilfred Robinson will officiate. The Monday prayer hour starts at 10am and at 9am on Wednesday there will be a special breakfast to raise funds for Christian Aid. That evening, a Hope Barlick planning meeting will be held at 7.30pm. Next Friday, June 3, the toddlers group will meet at 9.30am and a Bible study will be held at 7.30pm at Woodlands. Next Saturday, June 4, a circuit prayer breakfast will take place at 8am and then on Monday, June 6, people can meet at the lower entrance of the Baptist Church for a coach trip to HAPPA.

BOLTON ABBEY
Priory Church: The Priory Church will be fully open for the next two weeks whilst specialist parts are being made for the new lighting scheme. During half-term, there will be a special video shown in the tower produced by students at Craven Collage. During May and June, the church is running a photographic competition for visitors to Bolton Abbey. Each week the photographs will be judged and the winner will receive a prize. On Sunday there will be Communion (said) at 8am, a Sung Eucharist at 10.30am and an Evening Prayer at 6.30pm. On Wednesday, there is a said communion service at 10am. Telephone mast: A 60-foot high telephone mast is planned for a site between the canal and the A629 south of Ings Lane. It will be partly screened by trees to a height of about 20 feet. Gas works: Northern Gas Networks have begun upgrading the metal gas distribution network at Ings Lane. Work is expected to last about eight weeks.
Christian Aid: Thanks go to everyone for their generosity during Christian Aid week. If anyone has an envelope which was not collected they can leave it in the box at the village shop. The total is expected to be released next week.
Summer concert: Bradley Methodist Church will hold a charity concert on Saturday, June 18, starting at 7pm in the schoolroom. There will be a variety of local performers, including the school, musicians and members of Skipton Amateur Theatre Group, who have appeared at Skipton Auction Mart. Tickets go on sale tomorrow and are available from Bradley School, the village shop or on the door. Two charities will benefit from the concert - Cancer Research UK and March For Mangoes, set up to support the Kambe Timboni Community in Kenya.
School news: The school’s Gardening Club is requesting donations of plants for planting up tyres around the edge of the playground; berries, thorns and fruit plants are not suitable, but other varieties would be very welcome. The school is collecting the Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers. Please pop any vouchers you receive into the collection box outside the hall.
Film Club: The next showing from Film Club will be Dirty Dancing (15), on Thursday, June 30, at 7pm. This will be a fundraiser for Friends of Bradley School, so a small donation would be appreciated.
Messy Church: Everyone is welcome at the next Messy Church, which will be held in the Methodist Church schoolroom on Sunday, July 17, where there will be a picnic.
Quiz night: The Slater’s Arms will hold its next quiz night on Wednesday.

CARLETON
St Mary’s: St Mary’s Coffee Pot will be open from 2pm to 4pm tomorrow. On Sunday, a service of Bread, Wine and Worship will be held at 11am. The church will hold its annual gift days next Friday, June 3, from 2pm to 4pm and next Saturday from 10am to noon (coffee, tea and cake will be available in church during these times). Weather permitting, you will find their gift day table outside Grundy Farm on Main Street - just look out for the balloons. This year’s big project is to replace the ancient boiler.
Film night: A film night will be held on Saturday, with doors opening at 7pm for 7.30pm. This month’s film is The Choir starring Dustin Hoffman. Admission is £4 on the door.
Pointless quiz: Carleton Social Club will hold a Big Pointless Quiz on Saturday at 8pm. Entry is £5 per team (maximum of four people per team). Cash prizes will be available.
Bale race: The Hay Bale Race will take place on Sunday. It has been organised by Paul at the Swan to support the Football Club. You will need four people per team at a cost of £5 per person and entries are open to any local charity, group or organisation. The winning team will win 25 per cent of the net income from the day (hopefully £250) for their charity/organisation. Alternatively, you can sponsor a team. There will also be a barbecue and outside bar.
Gala day: Carleton Gala and Sports next weekend, June 4 and 5.
Big breakfast: A Big Breakfast will be held in the village hall on Bank Holiday Monday from 9am to 11am. It costs £2 for a full cooked breakfast.
Bingo night: A bingo night will be held at The Swan Inn on Wednesday from 8.30pm. Cash prizes will be available.

Art exhibition: Clapham Art Group will stage its 65th annual art exhibition in Clapham Village Hall. Diary dates: The Make It, Bake It, Grow It event will take place in the village institute on Saturday, September 10, and the next Jaywalkers’ production will be staged at the institute on the last Friday in September.

COWLING
Cowling Companions: Owing to the lack of support, the outing to Bury Market and Pilot Mill on July 1 has been cancelled. The next outing, therefore, is to Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle on Thursday, July 28. The cost is £15.50 for members and £17.50 for non-members, with an additional entrance fee of £7. Queen’s 90th birthday: Tickets are now being sold door-to-door for the celebrations on June 12 to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday. Events include a potato growing competition, photo exhibition and craft competition, as well as children’s games and a special songs of praise in St Augustine’s. Refreshments are available, starting with a bacon buttie brunch and culminating in a barbecue.
St Augustine’s Church: There will be no service on Sunday, the fifth in the month.

Embsay churches: On Sunday, St Mary’s Church will hold a communion service at 9.30am while the Methodist Chapel’s 10.30am service will be led by Alan Hickman. On Tuesday, St Mary’s will hold a quiet Communion service at 10.30am and from 2pm to 4pm the church is open for tea, coffee, home baking and conversation. The toddler praise, Smiley Faces, is held at St Mary’s on Fridays in term-time between 1.45pm and 3.15pm.
Community event: To celebrate the 90th birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth there will be afternoon tea in the village hall with a touch of Royal Variety on Saturday, June 11, from 3pm to 5pm. The afternoon will include the presentation of gifts to two villagers brave enough to declare their 90th birthday being closest to either the natural birthday of the Queen (April 21) or the Saturday of the celebration weekend. The entertainment will continue from 7.30pm to midnight. Music over the last 90 years will be on offer, with a themed buffet designed by Joe Pugh and laid on by the Cavendish Arms. Tickets, priced at £10, are available from Carol Shuttleworth or Linda’s Hair Shop. Also on the Saturday, Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway will run a specially decorated train and will be offering reduced fares throughout the day. On the Sunday, Embsay School will host a Day at the Races from 10am to noon.
Parish council: Although the annual parish council meeting was sparsely attended by parishioners, the council took heart that the limited attendance implied a general level of satisfaction. Appreciation was expressed to the band of volunteers who have taken on many roles this year to improve the visual appearance of the villages. The parish council annual report was also the subject of compliments – some copies are still available from Linda’s Hair shop. Brian Shuttleworth was re-elected chairman with Judith Benjamin as vice-chairman. The only change to working party membership is that Vince Smith takes over as lead member for road safety (although Stella Kirkbride continues as a member of the working party). The un-audited accounts and the updated Inventory and assets register were accepted without the need for any changes.
Steam Railway: On Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, Embsay Steam Railway will run special Cream Tea trains. Come along and enjoy a cream tea with scones and a train ride behind a steam engine. Tickets are priced at £11 for children aged three to 11 and £16 for adults. The price includes a return ticket from either Embsay or Bolton Abbey station.
Litter pick-up: The next litter pick-up in Embsay will be on Saturday at 10am. Meet in the car park opposite the village hall. It will probably take a couple of hours and refreshments are available afterwards. Volunteers will split into small groups and cover different areas of the villages.
Village Show: Embsay-with-Eastby Village Show will take place on Saturday, September 3, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm in the village hall. Categories include flowers, fruit and vegetables, baking and preserves, handicrafts and photographs as well as children’s sections. Schedules are now available at the Post Office, Library and other outlets.

St Andrew’s Church: On Sunday, there will be services of Holy Communion at 8.15am and 10am. From 2.30 to 4.30pm the church will be open to visitors, with tea and scones served in the parish rooms. Each Wednesday there is a service of Holy Communion at 9.30am in the parish rooms.
Village Pump: The Village Pump - the over 50s group - will meet in the Kildwick and Farnhill Institute on Wednesday from 2pm to 3.30pm.
History Group: Last week’s History of Farnhill Talk given by members of Farnhill and Kildwick Local History Group was well attended and raised £230 for Kildwick and Farnhill Institute funds.
Village Calendar: The closing date for photographs of the two villages, Farnhill and Kildwick, for next year’s village calendar is Tuesday, May 31.

Coffee morning: Due to a private party in the village hall, there will not be a coffee morning this Saturday. The next coffee morning will take place on June 18 when all the proceeds will be donated to the Lancaster and Skipton Rail User Group (LASRUG).
Flea market: A flea market will be held in the village hall on Sunday between 10am and 4pm. There will be numerous stalls displaying bric-a-brac, antiques, plants, crafts and home-made produce. Entry is 50p and refreshments are available throughout the day.
St Andrew’s Church: On Sunday, there will be a traditional BCP Communion at 8am and Morning Prayer from 10.45am.
Society meeting: The Craven Fuchsia and Geranium will meet in the village hall annexe on Wednesday from 7pm.
Cake decoration: There will be a competition to decorate a cake to celebrate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen on Sunday, June 12, between noon and 1pm in St Andrew’s Church. There will be a class for 11 years old and under and a class for everybody else. All are invited to take part.

Seats appeal: A resident has made a generous donation to Grassington Town Hall and would like to start a fund to replace the existing bench seats in the Octagon Theatre. Plant sale: Grassington and District Horticultural Society will be holding a plant sale and coffee morning in Church House on Saturday from 9.30am to noon. Added attractions are a cake stall, raffle and tombola.
Holiday Fair: A Spring Bank Holiday All-Day Fair will be held on Monday in Church House, Grassington. A request has been made for gifts of tombola prizes, cakes, books and bric-a-brac, which can be delivered to Church House on Saturday between 1pm and 6pm, or Sunday between 2pm and 6pm. Hall dances: The tea dances at the town hall are proving popular with locals and dancers from further afield. Twenty-five couples attended the last dance held in April and all the dancers enjoyed the home-made cake served on the best town hall tea service, all surrounded by colourful bunting around the hall. The next tea dance will continue this month with hosts Jack and Betty.
Seaside Friends: The next coach trip for members of the Grassington Friendship Club will be today and is to Scarborough.
Home art: Artwork, including sculptures, collages and image projections, produced by residents and staff of Gills Top Care Home was on display on last Thursday. Called Bridging the Gap, the event was produced by Gills Top in partnership with Pioneer Projects Celebratory Arts.

Flower Club: North Craven Flower Club welcomed Janine Gray from Huddersfield, with her demonstration entitled Fad, Fashion and Classics. Janine created a selection of arrangements which took the ensemble back a few years, with classic designs and interesting containers, foliages and flowers. Church service: There will be a church service for the combined parishes of Horton-in-Ribblesdale, Stainforth and Langcliffe at St Peter’s, Stainforth, on Sunday at 10.30am.
Village gala: Horton Gala will take place on the playing fields next Saturday, June 4. Taking centre stage will be the gala princess Emily Palmer and her retinue. The openers of the gala and judges of the fancy dress will be outreach postmaster Graham Scruton and his wife Lynn. Fancy dress entrants should be on the playing field by 12.45pm. Rural Association: Vice chairman Walter Tooby opened the May meeting of the Ingleton Rural Community Association (IRCA) and welcomed Glenis Robinson of the Ingleton Care Support Group, James Gaunt of the Social Enterprise Group and Emily Coates representing Quarry Arts. The celebrations for the Queen’s birthday party had been very much enjoyed. The IRCA jumble sale made a profit of £600. All the staff vacancies at the swimming pool are now filled, ready for its opening on Saturday at 10am. The Old People’s Welfare committee jumble sale is on Saturday and will raise funds for the summer outing on August 18. St Mary’s Church Gift Weekend will run from tomorrow until Sunday and the church will be open from 2pm to 4pm. The new team vicar, the Rev Nick Trenholme, will be licensed on July 14 at 7.30pm. A large congregation of St Mary’s and the Methodist Church celebrated Pentecost in Ingleton Square, led by the Christian Bikers. The North West Dahlia Show will be on Wednesday, August 31, at the centre. Ingleton Cricket Club reported a good start to the season. At the Badminton Club AGM, Sue Brash, Carole Coggins and Hugh Redhead were awarded honorary life membership. The plans and fundraising for the Splash Zone are progressing. A donation of £130 has been received from the Settle Dance Club and the donation boxes in the shops have added £93 to the funds. Institute news: A great night was enjoyed by all at the Giant ‘Jebson’ Quiz on Friday. The institute committee thanks all involved, but particularly John and Jean. Totals raised were raffle £39 and on the door £99. Profits will go towards the upkeep of the institute. The next fundraiser is the Sunday Teas this weekend.
Church news: On Sunday, there will be a joint service of Holy Communion in Stainforth at 10.30am. Next Sunday, June 5, a team of bakers and servers will serve Sunday Teas in the institute. Funds raised will go to the ‘new kitchen’ project. Helen Jarvis will demonstrate how expanded corn packing chips can be used to make sculpture! Tombola prizes should be given to Kate or Graham J. There will also be a number of woolly church mice on the loose! There will be a list of clues and a prize for whoever finds the most mice! LAWKLAND
Young Farmers: Lawkland Young Farmers would like to thank The Jamesons for giving an interesting talk on their business and providing a lovely supper. Next week’s meeting is district football and netball.

LOTHERSDALE
Over 60s: More than 30 members and guests were entertained by David Howard, who talked about witnessing the last, fatal water-speed breaking attempt by Donald Campbell and the subsequent retrieval of the speed boat and its driver many years later. David is also part of the organisation responsible for renovating the Bluebird which is almost finished and will then be transferred to the Ruskin Museum just 100 yards from Donald Campbell’s grave. The next meeting is on Wednesday in the village hall when the Air Ambulance will be present. A collection will be taken for the charity.

Thursday Club: Next Thursday, June 2, an expected 25 members will meet in the Reading Room for lunch at 12.30pm and a talk, What’s in a Rhyme, from Alan Helmsworth.
Double celebration: Rathmell will hold two village events next weekend. The first is a guided village walk next Saturday, June 4. It will start from the Reading Room at 2.30pm and will be followed by a cream tea. The cost is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children. Children are encouraged, along with well-behaved dogs on leads. The second event is next Sunday, June 5, and is a farm open day and barbecue at Cappleside. The farm will be open from 10am to 4pm, with the barbecue taking place from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

SALTERFORTH
Women’s institute: The president, Janette Pate welcomed members to the May meeting of Salterforth WI. There were further discussions regarding the trip to Ripon and the Yorkshire Lavender fields in July. Members were asked if they were willing to knit bonnets and cardigans for the premature baby unit at Leeds General Infirmary and there was an enthusiastic response to this request. Members were also asked to vote for which resolution they wished to be put forward at the AGM in Brighton in June and backed “Appropriate Care In Hospitals For People With Dementia”. Mrs Pate then introduced “Mrs Bead”, aka Rachel Brennan, who gave a hands-on demonstration on making bead jewellery. The competition for a piece of craft work was won by Jean Capps, with Mary Mitchell, second and Pam Fieldhouse, third. The next meeting will be in Salterforth Village Hall on Thursday, June 9, at 7.30pm when the subject will be “First Aid”. The competition will be “An Old Fashioned Medical Cure”.

Kwezana link: Pupils at Settle Primary School have been swapping information with youngsters in Kwezana about how they celebrate Easter, with Settle students explaining about the Easter bunny! Class five pupils in Settle have also been telling their friends about their recent art studies, which involved finding out about Claude Monet and trying to paint water-lilies in his style.
Victoria Hall: Jazz diva Clare Teal returns to Victoria Hall tonight with her trio for an evening of music and conversation. On Sunday, there will be a special Bank Holiday event with bar, barbecue and plenty of bopping to The Jukebox Junkies! Food will be available from 7.30pm with the band performing from 8.15pm. This is a fun family night, raising money for Victoria Hall. June promises to be another exciting mix, starting with a concert by California-based Corinne West on Wednesday. She will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Sam Lawrence. On Thursday, there will be drama with the return of Reform Theatre Company who will perform new comedy, The Debt Collectors, by John Godber. Saturday, June 4, blends live performance with cinema with a Harlem Street Singer film about the Rev Gerry Davis, followed by a solo performance from New Yorker, Woody Mann. Contact 01729 825718.
Gallery exhibition: The countryside of the Dales – the limestone crags, green fields, drystone walls, barns, farmhouses and flowers – have all been captured on silk by local painter Christine Carradice, whose new exhibition opened at the Gallery on the Green on Saturday and runs until Saturday, July 23.

Coffee pot: Each Tuesday St John’s Methodist Church holds a “coffee pot” session with homemade cakes in the coffee lounge. This is open to all and runs from 10am to noon. On the first Tuesday of the month the coffee pot is held in aid of a charity chosen by a member of the congregation. The charity on June 7 is Smile Train, which offers free surgery to children who suffer from cleft lips or palates in more than 85 developing countries.
Settle Saunter: The eighth annual Rotary Settle Saunter takes place on June 11. There are four routes on offer (nine, 12, 16 and 22 miles), which can either be walked or run and there are checkpoints with light refreshments along the way and a hot savoury meal at the end. Youngsters under 18 are welcome on the three shorter routes. Entries can be made in advance or on the day (an additional £1 surcharge applies). This year the funds raised will be shared between Settle Swimming Pool, Clapham’s Cave Rescue Organisation and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Settle Stories: Settle Stories will welcome renowned Belgian storyteller and musician, Iwan Kushka. He will present True Moon Tales - a story-concert for adults where old tales are blended with music. He will be joined by guitarist William Benzies and violinist Becky Doe for the event, which will take place at the Royal Oak on June 24 at 7.30pm. Iwan will also hold a workshop on Saturday, June 25. Silent auction: A silent auction will be held in Settle, providing a chance to invest not only in a piece of art but also in the future of the young people in the town. Settle Scouts are currently fundraising to improve their Drill Hall premises to help not only local scouts but to also make them available to the community. They’ve teamed up with a number of local prominent and renowned artists for a special silent auction which will take place on June 25 between 11am and 5pm.

Sports Club: The next Silsden AFC car boot sale will be held on Sunday on the old mill site next door to the ground. The next social event at the Sports Club is on Saturday with music from Catch 22. Tickets are available at the club, from Aire Valley IFA on Briggate and Bilaluci café.
Outer Space: Next Saturday, June 4, there will be an event held in the town hall for children aged between six and 11 who have been inspired by the exploits of astronaut Major Tim Peake. Venture into Outer Space is organised by Keighley Astronomical Society and sponsored by the Friends of Silsden Town Hall. There will be two workshops - rocket building and how big is big, which involves making a planisphere to map the night sky. Booking is essential and costs £4 per child who must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets and information leaflets are available from Twiggs newsagents, Kirkgate, Silsden.

SKIPTON
Friendship Club: Skipton Friendship Club will hold its monthly meeting at Broughton Road Community Centre on Tuesday at 2pm. Chris Powell will give a talk on Trash to Treasure.
Naval news: Next Sunday, June 5 at 10.45am, shipmates of Skipton and District Royal Naval Association are requested to muster at Carleton Church to mark the centenary of the Battle of Jutland. Two Carleton men lost their lives serving on HMS Defence, one of the 260 ships involved in the North Sea battle. Veterans are requested to wear medals at the morning service which starts at 11am.
Holy Trinity: On Sunday, there will be a Holy Communion service at 8am and a Parish Communion service at 9.45am. On Tuesday, the Toddle into Church activities for babies and pre-school children are in the vestry rooms between 2pm and 3pm. On Wednesday, there is Holy Communion at 10.45am. There is an exhibition, in the church from 10am to 5pm, of drawings and paintings by Chris Murray and prints by Bridget Tempest, both local artists, which will run from until May 31. The Coffee Shop is open on Bank Holiday Monday from 10am to 3pm as well as from 10am to 2pm, Wednesday to Friday. The café, with its wider menu, is open on Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
Women’s Institute: Skipton with Stirton and Thorlby WI voted on the resolutions to be debated at the annual general meeting in Brighton. The motions are for appropriate hospital care for people with dementia and avoiding food waste and addressing food poverty. The Museum loaned a Memory Box, which evoked nostalgic conversation of “wash day”. Jean Whelan reported on a visit to the WI’s Denman College for a Jane Austen weekend. The WI meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the Soroptimists Rooms, Otley Street.
Gardeners Club: May’s presentation was given by David Metcalfe, chairman of Lancashire Vegetable Society and top grower of leeks and onions. His excellent photos showed innovative ways of producing winning potatoes, carrots, celery, runner beans, peas, tomatoes, cabbages and cauliflowers. The next meeting is on Wednesday, September 21 at 7.30pm in the Soroptimists Rooms. Guest speaker will be Michael Myers, Craven Herald monthly garden journal writer and Craven College horticultural lecturer.
Christ Church: A Solemn Eucharist for The Feast of Corpus Christi will be held tonight at 7.30pm in Christ Church. Family Eucharist will be celebrated on Sunday at 9.30am and Evening Prayer at 6.30pm. Nigel Ogden from Radio 2’s The Organist Entertains will give the third in the Christ Church Organ Recital Series on Monday at 11am. Refreshments will be served from 10.30am and there will be a retiring collection. The weekly service of Holy Communion will take place at 9.30am on Wednesday.

SUTTON-IN-CRAVEN
St Thomas’ Church: A coffee morning will be held at the Community Centre, North Street, on Saturday at 10am. There will be a raffle and cake stall. All money raised will go to church funds. The service on Sunday is Joint Benefice Holy Communion at 10.45am.
Tea dances: Tea dances are held in Sutton Village Hall every Thursday afternoon at 1.45pm. Admission is £2, which includes refreshments.

Threshfield WI: Eight members of the Threshfield and Linton WI attended the recent Federation Spring Council meeting in Harrogate where awards were presented to longstanding members and institutes. Joan Wilson, of Grassington, was among those who received an award.
Choir concert: Last month the Hermitage Choir gave a magnificent concert of Russian Orthodox music and folk songs at St Michael’s Church, Linton. A large audience enjoyed a very special event.
Council meeting: Kettlewell Parish Council will be meet in the village hall on Wednesday from 7.30pm.
Coffee chat: The next Coffee, Cake and Chat morning will be held at the Falcon in Arncliffe tomorrow from 10am to noon.
Birthday picnic: The Queen’s 90th birthday will be celebrated in Buckden on June 12. Everyone is welcome to take a picnic to the Buckden schoolroom gardens where there is plenty of space for the children to enjoy a community party with music, games and a quiz.
Rylstone WI: The next two Rylstone and District WI meetings in Cracoe Village Hall will be social nights. There is also an outing to Haworth.
Wild park: Kilnsey Park Estate will celebrate the natural world with a Go Wild Week. Visitors are invited to try out den-building, helping to build a bug hotel and learning how to light a fire without matches. The cost for a child is £3. Events start on Saturday.

WIGGLESWORTH
Community Centre: Ladies needing a lift to tonight’s evening walk around Oxenber Woods please meet at The Community Centre at 7.10pm; otherwise meet at near the Traddock, Austwick, at 7.30pm. Craven Crafts meets tomorrow from 1pm to 4pm. There is a bacon butty morning on Saturday. There is a good selection of books and jigsaws to borrow in the centre library, which visitors are free to use whenever the centre is open. A canine first aid course is being held on Wednesday and anyone interested should email Sean on seanwhittle@hotmail.com. There will be a party at the hall to celebrate The Queen’s birthday on Saturday, June 11.
