POLICE have said a man found unconscious in Barnoldswick on Friday may have fallen.
A spokesman for the Lancashire Constabulary said a man in his 20s was found on path near Walmsgate at around 5.30am.
Officers were called to the scene by paramedics and the man, who suffered serious head injuries, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
An investigation was launched and the spokesman said: "The incident was initially reported as an assault but officers are now investigating reports that he could have fallen."
The spokesman confirmed that the man is still in a critical but stable condition.
