HUNDREDS of people descended on Ingleton recently to enjoy a Christmas lights switch-on with a difference last week.

More than 400 people wandered around Country Harvest’s new Christmas Cabin and chatted to Elsa and Anna from the hit film Frozen; met Sven, a live reindeer; watched the official lights switch-on; and enjoyed music from Settle and Giggleswick Brass Band.

The free event, which included food and drink tastings in the Food Hall, was part of Country Harvest’s Christmas Cabin celebrations.

The business, which marks its 25th anniversary next year, invested more than £250,000 on the Cabin and took on six extra staff, making it the second biggest employer in the Yorkshire village.

“We opened the Christmas Cabin on September 1 which I know was a little early for some of our customers - although others absolutely loved it,” said Mike Clark, owner of Country Harvest.

“The lights switch-on and extravaganza on Wednesday was a celebration of our new Christmas Cabin – it’s made Country Harvest a real destination, with the Gift Hall, Food Hall and of course our popular Coffee Shop.

“It was wonderful to see so many people at the event and was really good fun.”

This year Country Harvest, on the A65, is holding a Breakfast with Santa experience every weekend in December.

Tickets costing £10 are available from the Cabin and include a child’s breakfast, gift presented by Father Christmas and a story read by an elf.
