A MAN accused of murdering a 21-year-old in Skipton has been told he could stand trial next April.
Matthew Nigel Carr, of Moorview Way, Skipton, who is also 21, made his first appearance before a crown court judge today and was remanded back into custody after a brief preliminary hearing.
Carr has been charged with the murder of Martin Hunn, who suffered head and facial injuries in an incident alleged to have happened near his home in Regent Avenue in the early hours of Friday, September 28.
During today's hearing at Bradford Crown Court, Carr was told by the Honorary Recorder of Bradford, Judge Stephen Gullick, that a provisional trial date had been fixed for April 21.
Carr will go back to court on January 4 for a further pre-trial hearing when he is expected to formally enter his plea to the allegation.
A funeral service for Mr Hunn is due to take place at Holy Trinity Church, Skipton, on Tuesday, October 16, at 11am.
