YOUNGSTERS in Craven have cooked up a great idea to raise funds - with help from England rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson.
As the match-winning fly-half prepares for tomorrow's World Cup final against South Africa, one of his recipes features in a Long Preston Primary School booklet.
Pupils put together recipes from parents, friends and celebrities - including Jonny. The Newcastle, England and British Lions Golden Boot' responded to a request from Year One pupil George Collins and forwarded a recipe for spicy chicken, apricot and almond pittas.
Other celebrities who sent recipes include ballerina Darcy Bussell, playwright and author Alan Bennett, Everton and England footballer Phil Neville, Calendar Girl Christine Clancy, children's author Dick King-Smith, Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh, celebrity chefs Anthony Worrall Thompson, Ainsley Harriott and Brian Turner, England rugby coach Brian Ashton and retired TV cook and Long Preston resident Susan Brookes.
There are also recipes from Coronation Street stars, local hotel owners and school staff and children.
The 64-page booklet includes starters, main courses and sweets and has been printed by Magnaprint, in Long Preston. It will help pay for the redecoration of the school hall and classrooms and improve the outdoor environment.
Already 500 copies of the £5 book have been sold. They are available from the school, Magnaprint or Long Preston village post office.
