VISITORS from far and wide travelled to Settle to take a stroll around carefully maintained gardens, specially opened to raise more than £6,000 for good causes.
A total of 23 gardens in the town were opened for the day by their owners, and perfect weather during the weekend ensured large numbers of visitors keen to see gardens, both large and small.
A spokesman for the organisers said the weekend had been a resounding success. “Visitors were treated to a fantastic display put on by the hardworking gardeners in the 23 gardens that took part. Sales of tickets, plants and refreshments resulted in the amazing amount of £6,030 being raised, which will be shared between Settle Swimming Pool and two other local charities.
