DRAMA students devoted part of their school summer holidays by rehearsing and putting on a performance of Oliver! in just five days.
Members of Expressions Drama performed in front of family and friends at Glusburn Institute, Glusburn during one of the hottest weeks of the year.
Principal, Rachael Delaney said the students did amazingly well, and were full of energy, despite the heat.
“We might have sold the Co-op in Cross Hills out of ice lollies but it was all worth it to see the end result of a wonderful show,” she said.
During the following week, Rachael took five students to the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
“ Performers and artists from all over the world come to the Fringe and it was great for the students to share this experience,” she said. Next year, Expressions Drama plans to take two shows to the festival, including Hairspray the Musical performed by intermediate and senior classes. There is still time to enrol for the drama, and or musical theatre classes before auditions take place in October.
On Friday (August 30), between 2pm and 5pm, at the Glusburn Institute, Expressions is hosting a Wicked and Hairspray masterclass with Liam Doyle, actor, singer and musical theatre performer.
“Meet the star, learn the musical theatre industry secrets and learn songs, dance and script from the incredible Musical, ‘Wicked’ and ‘Hairspray,” says Rachael.
