FRIENDS of a man diagnosed with terminal cancer have organised a comedy night at Skipton Auction Mart next weekend to raise money for his young family and for Sarcoma UK.
The event will feature Scunthorpe comedian of the year Jed Salisbury, who has also appeared on BBC’s The Naked Truth and Radio One Live Weekend Warm Up, as the headline act.
He will be supported by Scott Wild, Ben Martin, Howard Walker, and Arron Carter, and there will also be a prize raffle and a pop up bar.
Rob ‘Zed’ Metcalfe, from Barnoldswick, has been writing ‘Zed’s Blog’ ever since being told he had Synovial Sarcoma, a very rare cancer of the soft tissue, towards the end of last year.
Rob says Zed’s Blog - walking with sarcoma is his way of raising awareness of the cancer that he sadly
has. “This is a place to follow my synovial Sarcoma story.”
One of his friends, Louise Whiteside, said: “Rob has not let this defeat him. His mind, his positivity and his courageous honest video updates have been highly motivating for all to see. He has inspired so many people with his daily updates sharing all the so many lows that he has sadly lived through since being diagnosed.
“We are wanting to raise money for him and his family so they can enjoy precious time together that we all take advantage of without the financial burden preventing such memories. A proportion of the money raised will also go to Sarcoma UK charity to help fund research.”
The comedy night at Skipton Auction Mart, at the top of Gargrave Road, will take place on Friday, September 13 from 7.30pm to 10.30pm. doors open at 7pm. Tickets at £10, by telephone 07834 543539 or 07702 259963.
