A NEW service aimed at tackling loneliness has been launched by Age UK North Craven.
The Good Friends service is intended to help the lonely, vulnerable and isolated people in the community, as well as helping the people who are supporting them.
Good Friends is about linking local people to a person in need in their area. Age UK North Craven will match someone who needs support to a Good Friends volunteer based on their interests, needs and location.
This is to ensure the person being supported feels they have someone they can turn to nearby.
Good Friends can help by popping round for a cup of tea and a chat, helping someone to attend an activity and checking they are okay.
They can also help with walking the dog or putting the bins out.
After introducing, Age UK will keep in touch for updates on how both people are getting on and what else may be done to help.
To volunteer or to nominate someone who may benefit from having a Good Friend, contact 01729 823066 or email: info@ageuknorthcraven.org
