LONG Preston’s Over 70s committee, Age UK and the parish council has come together to offer help to anyone in the community, regardless of their age as a response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The group is also conscious of the fact locals are concerned about home delivery of the latest Long Preston parish magazine and has organised for it to be collected at the village post office.
The group has reassured residents that if they are needing to self-isolate for health and preventative reasons and need help with collection of shopping, medicines and such like, it is there to help where it can.
A spokesman said: “We can shop for you at the village post office or at Settle. Medicines can be sent to the post office and we can arrange for it to be delivered to you at your home. Or if you are feeling lonely, we can have a chat on the phone.
“We also need help from the community. Can you, if you’re 65 and under without underlying medical conditions, help with shopping or delivery of supplies? If you can, please call one of the numbers below and be added onto the helpers list. The team leaders can then call you to do any specific job as and when they occur.
If you are self-isolating and you have family in the locality, please call them first for assistance before you call the support group so that we have time to help those that don’t have relatives near.”
