A DELIVERY driver wearing a turkey hat while doing his rounds in Threshfield yesterday came unstuck after police stopped him and arrested him for drink-driving.
North Yorkshire Police traffic officer TC Andrew Ingram tweeted after the arrest last night: "Called out to a delivery driver all the way from Darlington doing his rounds in #Threshfield and reported to be drink driving. Caught up with him wearing a turkey hat and sadly it was confirmed he was drink driving. Blew 102 yes, 102 #wow, along with lock knife in his possession."
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "The man in his 40s from the Darlington area was arrested after police stopped his van in Threshfield, near Skipton.
"He was taken into custody where a breathaliser reading of almost three times the legal limit was recorded.
"The incident happened yesterday afternoon and the man was charged with drink driving at noon today.
"He will appear before Skipton magistrates next month and becomes the 63rd driver to be arrested on suspicion of drink or drug offences during the force’s Christmas campaign, which began on December 1."
