THIS year’s Ingleborough Challenge has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Organised by the Clapham based Cave Rescue Organisation, the event, which usually takes place towards the end of May, is aimed at fell runners and hill walkers and includes a 12 mile route and a 26 mile marathon.
A spokesperson said: “After much soul searching and heartache, this year’s challenge will not now go ahead. The date in the calendar - the Saturday of the third week in May - is coordinated with other local organisations to ensure there is no clash of events – unfortunately, due to the Government’s preferred dates for the easing of lockdown, our event will not be permitted.”
It is hoped it will take place on May 21, 2022.
