THIS old photo is of the former St Monica's Convent which is situated next to St Stephen's Catholic Church, in Gargrave Road, Skipton.
It was for many years a girls' boarding school run by nuns who also lived there, though there were some boys who attended as day pupils.
It was partly demolished (the back part of the building and the former gym to the side) but the front remains intact.
Some of the nuns were also said to teach at St Stephen's primary school nearby and former pupils have spoken highly of them.
