A NARROW boat which has chugged its way along the canal around Skipton, clocking up the equivalent distance of circumnavigating the globe three and a half times, is having a new engine.
Skipton Boat Trips’ boat, Dalesman, was built in 1992 and fitted out at Snaygill Boat Yard, in Skipton.
It has served Skipton and visitors to the town for almost 30 years offering dining trips for groups like the Women’s Institute, to celebratory gatherings.
Last week it had its original engine changed by Pennine Cruisers, situated next door.
Boat owner James Watson said: We worked out she has travelled the equivalent of three and a half times around the world, but has never been past Gargrave or Silsden. He is looking forward to welcome groups back when Covid rules allow.
