ROTARY’S “Young Writer” award this year has seen a significant increase in entries from students in the Skipton area.
Skipton’s two Rotary organisations worked together to enable all schools in the Craven area to enter.
The winner of the junior section was Jack Lovell from Embsay Primary school and the winner of the intermediate section Lizzie Lewis from South Craven School.
Hamish Wills from Ermysted’s Grammar School was the winner in the senior category.
All three winners went forward to the second level of judging at District level with Hamish Wills winning this also and progressing to next month’s national finals.
One of the cornerstones of the Rotary organisation is its youth programmes.
