A PROGRAMME designed to attract more young people to live and work in the Dales is hosting an event which poses the question: ‘Is the future rural?’

Great Place: Lakes and Dales, backed by Craven District Council, is holding two streamed events next week with a variety of speakers talking on the subject of successfully working and living in the Craven countryside.

The free events, will also talk about the many creative events the programme has supported in the three years it has been running, including the Hinterlands rural film festival, which is due to take place in Skipton for a second time next month.

It also ran a competition with the Royal Institute of British Architects to design environmentally friendly and affordable housing in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, and has funded more than 30 small, creative businesses including co-working space Qworkery in Skipton.

Programme Manager, Lindsey Hebden, said: “It’s been an incredible three years and the whole team, along with our funding partners, are really proud of what has been achieved.

“It’s testament to the creative young people and businesses that so many of the programme’s ambitious ideas have been realised. After a year no-one could have predicted, it’s time to see how we can turn the new-normal into an opportunity for the communities and economy of the region.”

The events will take place on Wednesday, April 28 and Thursday, April 29, and will be streamed in the format of a magazine television show with hosts and guests.
