FIRE service bosses are urging people to be sensible when enjoying the countryside as the warm weather continues.
One of the biggest pieces of advice is never light fires or have barbecues on moorland or open grassland.
In recent years, serious fires have occurred when people have left disposable barbecues behind which have ignited the peat underground.
The message from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is: "Always follow the countryside code".
They also warn against the dangers of open water. Safety advice can be found on the NYFRS website.
