WORK is underway on the long anticipated £800,000 redevelopment of Settle Area Swimming Pool.
The pool is currently closed as some of the outer walls are demolished and temporary changing arrangements put in place.
It will re-open later this month and on-line bookings are now being taken for sessions in the week starting October 25. It is hoped that from then on the pool can remain open for most of the scheduled 42 week building project.
During the redevelopment work entry to the building will be through a side door. Swimmers will be expected to remove outdoor shoes in a waiting area before changing in new pool side cubicles.
Once completed, there will be a new ‘changing village’, next to the pool, with cubicles and lockers model facilities for families and disabled people, a multi-use dry space; and a revamped entrance and viewing area with additional catering facilities.
Full details of opening times and a blog on progress of the building work can be found on the pool website https://www.settleswimmingpool.co.uk/
