HOLY Trinity church in Skipton welcomes the recent progress made towards the repair of the churchyard wall. It notes that the work will involve the removal of some of the trees around the boundary.
This work is essential to allow the installation of foundations to the wall ,and the avoidance of a recurrence of the same problem in the foreseeable future.
While the removal of any trees during the climate emergency is regrettable, Holy Trinity is committed to the Church of England’s ambitious target of being carbon-neutral by 2030.
Our Climate and Environment Group will be assessing if there are ways in which we can appropriately replant without causing further problems and we will be continuing our active and exciting engagement with the Towards Carbon Neutral Craven Churches project spearheaded by St.Mary’s in Embsay, This also involves St.Augustine’s in Draughton , St.Mary’s in Carleton and All Saints in Burton-in-Lonsdale.
Holy Trinity aims to follow-up its successful Climate Sunday service of 2021 with an anniversary service this May which we hope will be attended by many from the local community.
