REMEMBER that scene at Hardraw Force, near Hawes, when Maid Marion (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) came across Robin Hood (Kevin Costner) swimming in the pool beneath the falls?
It was during the filming of the 1991 film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Rumour has it that it was a stunt double doing the swimming as the water was so cold there was a risk of hypothermia to Mr Costner who wasn't used to the often chilly climate 'up north', despite it looking like summertime with the leaves on the trees and the bracken. But we won't let such a small detail spoil things.
The falls were pretty active on that day but nothing like they were following the recent storms.
The video by Wendy McDonnell has been posted on social media by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
Judging by the amount of water coming over those falls I think even Robin Hood would think twice about skinny dipping there at the moment.
Nearby Aysgarth Falls were used in a fight scene in the movie.
