CAVE rescue went to the aid of a German Pointer dog after it became stranded on a ledge at Ingleton waterfalls trail at the weekend.
The dog, called Frankie, fell into the river on Sunday morning at the Pecca Twin Falls, and got stuck in an inaccessible spot, close to where another dog had to be rescued by the team on Boxing Day last year.
A spokesperson for the Clapham based Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) said: " His owners called for help and members of CRO’s swift-water rescue team scrambled down, swam to retrieve the dog and brought him safely up to the path."
The spokesperson added: "As we suggested back in December, unless your dog is heavier than you, better to keep him or her on a lead and on the path along the route beyond Pecca Bridge."
