A man was trapped in his van for more than an hour in a three-vehicle crash which caused rush hour chaos this morning.
The crash, which involved a white VW van, a Ford transit van and a VW Polo, happened on the A629 near Kildwick at around 7.15am.
Two fire engines from Skipton were called to cut one of the van drivers out of his vehicle.
He was conscious and breathing throughout, but wasn't released until 8.30am when he was taken to Airedale Hospital with a broken leg and a possible hip fracture, said a fire service spokesman The drivers of the other vehicles escaped with minor injuries.
The road was closed at the western bypass until around 11am, leaving drivers stuck in traffic jams and having to find alternative routes.
