A BRAND new senior fell race is being planned this year which will start from Thornton-in-Craven Cricket Club at 11am on May 29.
Organiser Anthony Brown said it was poised to be a cracking event.
"It is a proper athletic event (Fell Running Association approved) and is properly timed and marked with fantastic prizes for the fastest runners.
"Both races lead to Lathe Wood, which is a very steep grassy track heading up to the Pennine Way. At this point, both races depart and take opposite directions.
"The 14.99km long route with 535m elevation continues towards Pinhaw trig point and on to Lothersdale, before returning on the Lothersdale fell race route back to the trig point again and back to the village.
"The 4.64km short route with 157m elevation follows the Pennine Way back to the old railway line and back."
Presentations will be made at the village hall where there will be a licensed bar.
The race is open to runners 18 and over on race day.
The cost is £4 for FRA members and £5 for non-members.
All proceeds are going towards the running of the village hall.
