VISITORS to Malhamdale and the people who live there are being urged to spend two minutes picking up litter in the first initiative of its kind in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The first 'litter pick stations' in the national park have gone up in popular spots, outside the public toilets in Malham, and at Gordale Refreshments between beauty spots, Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss.
Organised by Kirkby Malham Parish Council, people are invited to borrow litter pickers and bags and spend just a couple of minutes cleaning up the immediate area, before returning the litter pickers to the station.
It is inspired by the national charity, the Two Minute Foundation. The charity is devoted to cleaning up the planet two minutes at a time, believing that simple, achievable acts can add up to make a great difference, and that it is 'positivity, people and passion that will change the world for the better'.
