THE A59 at West Marton, near Skipton, is likely to remain closed for much of today (Saturday) following a collision between a Royal Mail Parcel Force articulated lorry and a car late last night.
Specialist collision unit officers are currently at the scene of the incident at the crossroads in the village, where Thornton Road crosses the A59.
The road was closed last night at around 10pm with diversions in place at Gisburn and at the A56 roundabout at Broughton.
Police say the road is likely to remain closed for several more hours today for investigations to take place and for the vehicles to be removed.
North Yorkshire Police Traffic Bureau has tweeted: "Please avoid the area and find an alternative route."
