CATTLE have had something to be curious about after a telegraph pole in their field near Gargrave was 'completely demolished' bringing down the overhead phone cable.
A farm vehicle is believed to have gone through a fence on a bend on the narrow road between the hamlets of Bank Newton and Little Stainton sometime last week, crashing into a telegraph pole in a field and bringing down the overhead cable, which connects homes to the phone and broadband.
A spokesperson for Openreach said: “Despite the complete demolition of our telegraph pole the overhead cable remained intact meaning no customers lost their phone or broadband as a result of this incident.
"Engineers have made the area safe and will replace the pole as quickly as possible.”
Openreach is owned by BT and maintains the telephone cables, ducts, cabinets and exchanges that connect nearly all homes and businesses in the UK to the national broadband and telephone network.
