A MAN who said he was doing a favour for a team of dominoes players by giving them a lift was over the drink-drive limit, heard Skipton Magistrates Court.
Philip Blackburn, 64, was stopped by police on Main Street, Low Bradley, at just before 11pm on March 22 because of his erratic driving, the court heard on Friday.
Blackburn, who was driving a Mini Clubman, provided a positive roadside breath test and was taken to the police station where a blood sample showed he had 120 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.
The court heard he was just 22 days short of ten years after a similar conviction for drink driving - putting him at a longer driving ban.
Blackburn, of Fell View Square, Grassington, admitted drink driving, but added he did not think he had been driving erratically. He said he had been drinking in the afternoon, about three pints, before driving to pick up a dominoes team for a favour and he would not be doing it again.
He was banned from driving for 38 months and fined £250. He will also have to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £34. If he completes a drink drivers rehabilitation course, his ban will be reduced by 38 weeks.
