Bolton Abbey

Rector’s message: We were all shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II last week. Despite her advanced years and failing health it took us all by surprise and, the world which most of us had known throughout our life, suddenly changed forever. In this official period of mourning, we remember particularly the life and service of Queen Elizabeth II. Her service to the peoples of the United Kingdom and other territories and her faith and witness to Almighty God. The late Queen said ‘For me the teachings of Christ and my own personal accountability before God provide a framework in which I try to lead my life’. This is an example to us all. At the Priory Church, Bolton Abbey this coming Sunday at 10.30 am we are holding a Special Service of Holy Communion during the period of mourning . This will enable us to give thanks for Her late Majesty’s service and to follow her faithful witness.
