MP Julian Smith was part of the opening ceremony of the redevelopment of Settle Area Swimming Pool which was officially opened at the weekend.
Mr Smith was among a group of attendees for the memorable occasion where the £840,000 redevelopment project has seen the modernisation of the changing facilities, the creation of a new reception area with catering and a new multi-use dry space, to host fitness classes. As well as installing solar panels to increase sustainability of the pool and reduce energy costs.
Local champion swimmer Ned Sharp who learned to swim in Settle was also there
Mr Smith gave his thanks to all the volunteers, councils and donors who made the re-opening possible.
He said: ‘It was excellent to be a part of the re-opening of Settle Area Swimming Pool, a great asset to the local community. It is always great to see community hubs like this in rural areas.”
